When I came home today, I noticed my large hammer looked odd. It is contracted and has tons of tiny particles around the mouth and in the tentacles. When I was getting ready to take some pictures one of the heads puffed up and expelled a bunch of them.

Can someone please help me identify what this is, and if there is something I should do for it?

Thanks for the quick reply’s. I was so busy trying to figure out what could be wrong with it I never considered it could be spawning. That’s quite a relief. It’s a good size hammer and I hated the idea of having something wrong with it.

That’s is a huge hammer! I read that hammers are slow growing so I will be waiting a long time for mine to get to that stage.

The eggs have all moved from the tentacles and are now all at the mouths. The mouths even look puckered right now.

So does it meant you will have ton of baby hammer?
From what I’ve read the eggs would need to be fertilized by a male. I do have other hammers but most the eggs were released at night so I have no clue if others spawned . I highly doubt I will get any hammer babies but would be pretty exciting if I do.
