My hammer is falling apart. It is in a low flow area and now on my sand bed. I added it in about 4 months ago and it did fine until I had an Aiptasia problem. It hasn’t been stung for 2 weeks and was starting to look better until yesterday. It has progressively gotten worst quickly. Please help

That is too far gone to do anything about.. sorry for your loss. Test your water and think of any changes you made recently that may have caused the issue and learn from it. Looks like lots of aptasia in the back ground that could have been stinging it also. Happy reefing as always

From my experience I have been unsuccessful when they’ve reached this point. Do you see any brown jelly on it? Sorry about this situation.

Best you can do is leave it in very low flow, well out of reach of the aptasia (stinging right now will only make things worse), and just hope for the best.

The flesh is barely hanging on ... and if you try to move around a lot, or dip it, or anything like that, it'll probably just fall right off.

Odds are it's a goner at this point ... but you might as well leave it be, and wait and see. There's always that that 1-in-a-million chance it might recover. Nothing to lose.

I put it in a minibowl inside the aquarium where there is very low flow my filefish can’t pick at it(if he was) and no sifting gobies dumping sand on it.
thanks for the help
