My hammers seem to be doing fine but I have a few questions.
1. Sometimes one head closes up for the day, why does this happen?
2. My Left head is massive and looks like it might split how do I tell?
3. It's under white light is blue better?

1. Any number of reasons. Pooping. Something irritated it.
2. If it's splitting, it'll grow a second mouth.
3. Blue is always better IMO. That provides the proper wavelength of light corals use.

When a hammer is having a problem the first two things I check is salt level and magnesium. You can tell one is about to split by looking under the polyps and you should notice it looks like its pulling away from its self. Also corals do appreciate your blue lights. Good luck hoping it grows like crazy for you!

1. Impossible to know
2. Look at the skeleton at night, it will be easier to see if it is splitting.
3. The sun is white... If it is looking healthy don't change things.

Yeah, but in the ocean at 30 feet, the light isn't white. The water filters out the other colors, which is why it's blue.

Well it ain't windex neither. This pic was taken about 50 feet deep.

Looks a bit dark. Here's some of my pics at about 40 feet in the Exuma Islands. Not Windex, but definitely not white.
There's a reason most every single light comes in a blue spectrum. Some lights, like the Radion Blue only comes in blue.
But hey, to each their own....
