My hammer has been in this spot for almost 10 months under the same conditions and lighting. Nothing major has changed either. All of my other euphyllia look great and are thriving.

Last set of tests these were the results:

Temp 79.6
Salinity 1.026
PH 8.0
Nitrate 10 PPM
Ammonia 0 PPM
CA 450
Ak 8.6
Mg 1470

Any thoughts?

What’s your Phosphate level at?
Same flow as your others?

Also I just learned from @Flippers4pups that MG that high is not good for euphyllia.

Really? Hmm that’s something I did not know. My MG doesn’t stay that high. It drops to around 1350 or so by the end of the week.

As far as phosphate that’s not something I’ve tested in a long time. Maybe I should get some tests for that this weekend.

Hammers like dirty water so just make sure you haven’t bottomed out your PO4. I didn’t know about the MG till today when he educated me on it. I keep my MG at 1350 CA at 440 ALK at 10 NO3 at 5-10 and PO4 at .02 and all my Hammers, Frogspawn, and Torches are growing like weeds. SPS are doing great aswell.

+1 for Phosphate. If the water is to clean euphyllia don't thrive, they prefer a little dirtier water. Every ta K is different but mine seem to like around 10 Nitrate and .04 Phosphate.
Have you tried dipping it? It might be a pest also? Have you changed anything as far as lighting or flow?

Gotcha.

Actually my tank is kept on the dirtier side as I feed heavy. It’s just recently this one hammer has started acting like this. No lighting or flow changes either. Only thing new I’ve been dosing 2-3 drops a week of brightwell coral amino.

Plus one on checking for pests.

Definitely work on getting your mg closer to or below 1400 as well.

What salt are you using?
Are you dosing MG?
A water change may help.

What test kits are you using? RC should mix to 1440 max at 1.026 salinity and about 1400 at 1.025.
