What do you guys think of this huge white spot on my hammer coral base? It currently has 2 heads with one splitting to a third head. Do y’all think this is a new branch budding? That’s what I’m hoping for. The coral is super happy and healthy all the time.

Hello. To me looks like a patch of coraline algae. I’m not sure they “branch” like that, I believe they split from the top and grow into branches- but I could be wrong lol. Would be neat if it was a new branch.

I really don’t believe it’s coralline. There is a bulge in that area now almost like the base is trying to open. Just from searching online, I’ve seen photos of hammers having new heads “sprout” but just wondering if that might be what is happening here.

My hammer puts out tiny little stalk heads, almost look like really big vermetid snails. Some near the base, but many times just under the the larger heads.

Looks like the emergence of new head. Obviously keep an eye on it
