Hammer coral receding and oozing mucus

Good evening,

I started my first saltwater/reef tank about 45 days ago, added clowns 2 weeks ago, and my first corals (4 hammers on Friday). Initially all 4 were doing well, but yesterday afternoon one coral started oozing clear mucus and has since receded. I changed the position to lower flow/light. I also changed the activated carbon and did a 15% water change. The other 3 corals oozed slightly yesterday, but otherwise, are doing real well. Any thoughts on what I can/should do to save the stressed/sick coral while not risking the health of the other 3? Any suggestions/thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you! - Andrew

Sounds like BJD. (brown jelly disease)

Dipping infected euphyllia in Lugoi's solution may help. Brown jelly can spread to other euphyllia.

Thank you for the quick reply. It hasnt turned brown yet...mostly clear and whiteish. Will it eventually turn brown?

Expelling mucus from the mouth could be waste or infection.

Clear and light brown is bjd. Looks like clear sacs over tentacles.
I lost a torch 2 weeks ago. Highish flow damage to tentacles.
Whatever causes it is already there, waiting for a stressed coral to infect. I think the majority of remedies further stress the compromised coral.
The infected torch was between 3 other torches which are intact.

Keep an eye on it.
I hit mine with a turkey baster and flesh was coming off.
If this is the case, probably a goner, so remove.

A lot of the skeleton was visible today, so i took out and smelled (smelled like death), so I dumped...was probably BJD. The other 3 corals seem to be ok. Should i do a water change soon, or just keep an eye on them.

Have you smelled a healthy coral out of water? They smell worse than death.
Keep an eye on them.
