Hammer Coral Secreting White Slime. Help?!

I got a hammer coral from my LFS and I brought it home, acclimated to my water for 30min, coral rx 10 min, then a fw dip for less than 1.5 minutes. After the fw dip, it closed up and started secreting white slime. I immediately put it in my tank because I didn't know what was happening.

I have fw dipped a hammer coral with no ill effects before and I didnt know what was happening this time.

I don't think there's much you can do at this point, it's in the best spot it can be right now so you'll just have to wait and see. For future reference I probably would not freshwater dip corals with a thin membrane like Euphyllia, just hardier corals like Zoanthids and maybe mushrooms, but even then revive, iodine or bayer would be less stressful.

I'm not too sure how to dose bayer's. The bayer to water ratio. So next time should I do revive or lugols?

I had done a fw dip with a hammer before so I didn't think anything would happen. They were both the branching variety.

It might not even have been the FW dip, but I really would reserve that for fish or really tough corals just because of the nature of how it works is pretty harsh compared to revive or iodine that mostly doesn't affect the corals. I would stick with revive as a general purpose dip, and Iodine can function that way as well, however you cannot use iodine with certain corals such as Xenia and not with bivalves like clams.
