Hey so I got my hammer coral a few weeks ago, was looking great up until now. It’s polyps we’re fully extended, vibrant colours. Now it’s retracted it’s polyps by a lot and has a bit of loss in coloration. Tank parameters are up to par and stable with a water change every week. No dosing. Been acclimating to light and flow slowly. What am I doing wrong? Any tips would be very helpful Thankyou!

First image is when it was looking healthy (colour was vibrant, only photo i have of it was when the light was nearly off unfortunately)

Second image is now.

Hammers, in lower light don’t engorge as much. At night they shrink to almost nothing so if you’re acclimating it to light it’s probably just not opening as much cuz you’re not giving it as much light as it’s used to getting. Just a thought. I just kno that my hammer is huge when the light intensity in my tank hits peakand then gradually shrinks daily as the lights slowly wanes in intensity. And once the lights go off it’s almost non-existent.

Hey thanks for the reply, I had an inkling light may have been the case, I have increased the blues again but not whites as much. Will see how it does through the next coming days.

Thanks :)

I do t even acclimate my new corals to light. As king as they’ve been kept in the appropriate lighting to look great which makes you buy it in the first TheyBe always adapted in my tank no problem.

Looks good- I wouldn't worry about it unless you can see the skeleton or it's not opening

I found that if euphyllias shrunk up almost all the way most of the time, that’s not healthy. Healthy ones I think should be semi open at night time.

I agree with everyone, The coral looks great I wouldn't change anything until you see major signs of stress or discoloration. The only thing I would maybe do is maybe use more blue than white but overall great looking coral
