Hammer death from stress or brown jelly?

Hi There,

I did a sump upgrade, and in the process had a leak, and then had to rush to fill the tank back up. So a plumbing error resulted in a rushed water change. Parameters are fine, but the tank swung in both temperature (dropped about 3/4 degrees), and there are likely salinity and alkalinity changes that come with water changes.

The next day, all the other corals I have are fine, but the Hammer coral had an open mouth in both heads. Today, one head is for sure toast, but I want to make sure that in the process it didn't contract BJD, and should be pulled out before it can spread.

The pictures show a progression but are not in order. The worst looking one is today.

You would be surprised at the amount these guys can grow back. I’d leave it for now See what happens

Thanks, that was what I was planning, just leave it and hope for the best. But I had a moment of panic that maybe the shock from the water change made it contract BJD or slow tissue necrosis, and leaving it in the tank put the Frogspawn that's next to it at risk.

It doesn’t look like brown jelly to me, if that’s any consolation lol
