Good Evening,

I noticed a single black spot on my hammer coral. All three photos are of the same black spot, just wanted to give perspective. This coral is about 2 years old, it started as a single head and now has about 20 heads. No other corals are close enough for this to be the result of coral warfare and it has no history of disease or pests. Nothing new has been introduced to this tank in about 1 year. The tank is lightly stocked, everything is on timers, and I rarely mess with anything other than biweekly water changes. 32 Gallon biocube, stock lighting, system has been running for about 3 years. Any ideas?

It looks as if it may be damaged. But I'd just keep an eye on it and leave it alone. If it gets worse over time, consider fragging off that head.

Within 48 hours it was completely gone and now looks normal. No other issues. Thanks for advising to leave it alone!
