I heard that hammers and frogspawn dont sting each other because they are both euphyllia. my friend is giving me a head of his frogspawn, was thinking about glueing it to the base of my branching hammer coral to make a grafted coral. Has this ever been done? Could it work? I know they will never truly fuse but just grow around each other. i think it would look pretty cool.

I think I'm gonna give it a shot. Bear with me because I'm not gonna get it from him for a few days. I think what ill do is ill place the frogspawn near the hammer first just to be sure there is no stinging. Then ill go ahead and glue the bases. It will look awesome if it works because my hammer is a neon green/purple tip branching type, and the frogspawn is multicolor but the frag he is giving me is predominantly green tips. Ill keep posting pics as time goes on.

I have a toxic green Aussie hammer and a lot of my other corals graft off of it when they are near it. So if I want a coral to be more green I just put them close. But not to close. Ill post a pic in a bit

To graft it I'm pretty sure youd need the flesh to be open and connected, attaching the skeletal base wouldnt do anything other than put them nexto eachother.

I thought so to not sure but it turns everything around it more green. Looking for pics now

So the first one is my hammer.
The second is a brain i had before it grafted. I could not find a pic after it grafted and I dont have it anymore cus I traded it. :/
But it turned all the outer grey color part a green color.

My current hammers and frogspawns will fight if allowed to touch. I've had it happen in two tanks. No grafting here with my current corals. YMMV

yea as i stated in my first post- its not really true grafting but i think it would look awesome if this was an instance where they play nice and grow intermingled with each other. and @helios- i think thats a multicolor hammer. the frogspawn my friend is giving me is very similar except its a frogspawn. ive heard some people say they fight and some people say they don't. mine are going to both be branching variety so maybe that makes them a little closer on the evolutionary tree? who knows. i think either way this will make a neat little experiment :xd:

I have all my euphyllia crammed on the sides of the rockwork which contain a few different types of FS, Hammers and Tourch. The tourch took a few heads of the FS out. but I think FS and hammers would work. Cool idea im going to try it.

Hammers are fine next to each other from what I've heard because they are the same genus & species (branching)- just different colors. What I am doing is putting a frogspawn and hammer together- same genus (euphylia) but different species

I have a branching frog spawn that had 1 dead head, I cut the dead head off flat and glued a branching hammer to it and they are both happy growing among eachother.
