Hello,

I see these two pink colored things on the base of my hammer. What are they? Also does it look like this hammer is receding or is that normal? It has been acting ***** lately with what looks like skinny polyps instead of thicker like usual. Parameters are solid

It looks like it's receding because you're holding it out of water lol. Looks like the weight of the polyp is making it hang over one side. If you want to know if it's receding, a pic in the tank when it's open is the way to go.

The stuff on the stem is kind of out of focus, but it looks like some type of macro algae. Probably harmless, but if it worries you scrape it off.

Hard to tell for the pictures but could be Vermit snail which web will irritate the hammer making it recede.

Look up Vermit and compare to what you see.

It may be macro algae like Steve said here’s a zoomed in pic

So here’s something else. I moved it away from my pink hammer and it seems to be opening way more. I thought you could put all hammers by each other without them annoying them? Is that not true?

somewhat, but we generalise a lot when it comes to corals, because the same type of coral can come from many different parts of the world. For example, Australian hammer maybe ok beside Autralian hammer and ok beside Phillippines hammer, but not ok beside Indonesia hammer.(just as example)

This same hammer seems to be retracting more now. It used to be very fluffy. Now it almost looks skinny / maybe seeing some skeleton? My other hammer looks great all other coral and fish/ inverts great.

am I reading into this too much? It’s been unhappy looking to me for a few days now

To me the little red things are foraminifera. Are they hard with little spikey ends? These were very common on Fiji live rock, they can also be white. Harmless and generally stay small.
Would they be bothering the coral so much to be receding / not looking as full?

Do you have MELAFIX? It's an incredible dip. Use 1 cup of the tank water and 2.5mL of MELAFIX (the marine one) and let it sit for 10 minutes. After, put it in a separate cup filled with tank water to sort of rinse everything off, then put it back in the tank. You will be amazed at what it kills. It looks like AIPTASIA to me.

I do not I only have revive.this is what this hammer looked like a week or so ago. I did add a pink hammer by it which seems to be very mean 4-6 long stingers out all the time at like 4+ inches. So I moved it away. But it just seems very unhappy

I wouldn't think so.

The addition of the pink hammer possibly.

I have a mint hammer and a purple hammer growing right into each other, but at one point the mint one wasn't as full on one side. Currently they seem to get along, but have plans to frag one.

Weird I moved it away a few days ago now and it still isnt super happy. Maybe I will give it a week or two and see if it seems better or not.

It doesn't look happy at all. It is receded pretty bad. This could have happened weeks or months before you even acquired the piece. Just give it the best spot you can with about 200 ish par and a nice medium flow that's random.
