if your parameters are good maybe something is eating at it? odd it would be growing and dying same time.

No the flow is rather low and the other two branches open up and have split and grown very well. I will get a better pic of them tomorrow. As well as water test. Just find it strange that it is only on the one branch not the others and it happened fast looked good to gone in less then two days.

I would watch your peppermint shrimp at night. I picked up 2 for aiptaisia a long while ago. Once the aiptaisia was gone they would scavenge for food. If my acans ate, they would literally tear the acans open for the food they were digesting. Not saying they're the problem, just a possibility.

I don't think it is that they have been in the same tank for almost a year.

Hopefully they remain lookin' real good.

I don't see any sign of BJD and unless you've seen polyp bailout, I don't know what else it could be.
I know some critters behavior can change over time.

I've only been keeping euphyllia for about 7 months so my experience is limited.

I've had a wall hammer experience polyp bailout - like a zipper from one end to the other over a week's time with no other sign of disease.
My LFS coral guru suggested a bacterial infection that stressed the coral without consuming the polyps like BJD does.

I've had a branching hammer with BJD which I was able to treat and save. It lost 2 of 3 branches, but now has 3 branches again.

I've seen the peppermint shrimp shred a small hammer like Edwards Scissorhands giving a haircut - savage.

Good luck.

Just a quick question, can tempture have an impact in my hammer dying? We had it at 80 and spiked to 82 is that too high? Testing nitrates and phosphates now
