By dropped I'm assuming you mean the fleshy polyp fell off the skeleton? There are a bunch of threads on polyp bail out. Sometimes the heads live and slowly grow a new skeleton sometimes they die.

What are your water parameters? It is believed that high PO4 can lead to polyp bailout. Do you test for PO4?

How much flow is on it? I find my hammer hates stronger flow and will recede

No I kind have just been letting the tank work on it’s own. I guess I need a po4 test kit. And probably should do water changes. I don’t do them often.

It's polyp bailout and technically it's possible for the polyp to grow a new skeleton it's incredibly unlikely.
Yea he’s still opened up on the bottom as well. Will he die? What’s the best course of action to take? I’ll be going to the fish store today.

Have you performed any water testing on your tank?

What is the volume of your tank?

Bailout happens after shocking parameter changes or constantly wrong water parameters.
For example you get a new fish put it in your tank not knowing LFS has copper in the heir water. Or you have high phosphates for long. Etc. if lucky you can save the fallen of head but only if ideal conditions are there so most cases it will not happen.

Phosphates are .25, calcium seems high I just got a test kit. It’s 700
