Just did a 20% water change and my hammer seems to be letting off this slime?

They don't like cold water splashed on them. If it was close that probably wasn't it.

Hes starting to open up a little now. Im assuming the water was too cold for it. It was doing fine until i did the change. Hope he pulls through!

My hammer will "flinch" when I get to close to touching him or a short burst of current comes around him.
Maybe he just got irritated with the WC and turbulence of the water.

My euphyllia always get upset during a water change, keep in mind with your WC that everything is not identical, less nutrient, temp, even your trace elements, these can factor a little bit of stress to your corals. Sorry I know long winded answer to say I would worry to much it looks OK in pic.

It appears that after the worry it is getting back to health but this morning i noticed this in a seperate part of my tank. New hammer growth????

It with everything that was go8ng on it looks as though it pinched part of itself off. Could have been the reason it did not want to open. I've never tried with a wall hammer but I have had a few of my branching hammers start a new colony like that.

I find my corals tend to be dramatic during water change day, and will release snot immediately after siphoning, let alone new water coming in!
