So i got a reverse hammer saturday and it seems to not wanna fully open up. It has opened a little more now then it did the first few days but we're going on day 4 now and its still only half way opened. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

How much flow do you have? I've found branching hammers don't like a lot of flow.

id say medium to low... its below the only power head in the tank. The power head blows toward the right corner of the tank and the return blows toward the front left corner near the hammer. the return pump nozzle is a good 25+ inches away so I wouldnt think it would be all that much flow going on it. It does seem to sway around a lot though so maybe im wrong

My branching hammers like almost no flow at all...seriously. I have to do everything I can to minimize flow to get even decent polyp extension.

Looks ok to me. Let things settle.

Yeah I'm gonna give it till Friday to see if it opens up a bit more

I'm thinking I might have to move it to the back left corner. The same rock but in the back corner has little to no flow so it might be a good spot for it. My only worry is the frogspawn is so big you wont eve see the little guy back there haha

I know the feeling with the frogspawn growing a large fro :) Leave it where it is for a couple of days, and if it looks like it is getting smaller, move it to a lower flow area. I wouldn't do anything right now.

Yeah I figure if it doesn't open by Friday when I go home to do maintenence ill move it my only concern is i used epoxy to get it to stick in that hole haha

It will be fine. The epoxy bond is not usually that strong on live rock. Just go slowly during the removal.

kind of weird but what do you think the pink/red is growing on my rock? it only covers the rock and never on the sand 0_o

Looks like Cyno

see thats what I thought but I use RO/DI water that I get from a 6 stage filtration in my basement. Also the algae has yet to bubble up or grow on the sand like cyno mostly does

It looks like good old fashioned coralline algae to me. :)

the little buddy seems to be opening more now... I guess he is just trying to get used to things

Could be Coraline but seeing the green algae in the pic I could be cyno.
What is your Phos level?
