Also I would like to see a little more white light, your tank looks really blue, almost like moon lights. I have a Kessil A 160 and have it real blue first thing in morning and at night time.

It’s on the moonlight setting at the moment.

12pm-1pm moonlights
1-8pm mix in the whites
8-9 moonlights again

Those look great. I love them too, and torches. But not having the best luck haha. The hammer actually loves reef roids. I feed everything else in my tank that, not a thing in that tank doesn’t like it.

You will get their. Just keep your flow, water parameters and lighting in check and consisted. I would sell you some frags of mine eventually if you’re ever interested. My email is [email protected]

You could even possibly run your lights 12 hours a day. I run mine 11am-11pm. Ramp
Up: 11-2, peak at 5 and ramp down: 9-11

Best thing I heard all day. I hate that schedule, just not enough for my enjoyment Monday through Friday. But I was terrified of excess algae due to light.

It doesn’t matter what time of day you’re running your lights. I run mine so I can see my tank the most and enjoy it. Algae growth comes from high nitrates levels along with extreme lighting times (more than 12 hours a day). So with running your lights 12 hours a day and by keeping your nitrates low with weekly 10% water changes you shouldn’t have to worry about hair algae and stuff over taking your tank. Also, having enough clean up crew is essential. They suggest 1 member per gallon or two of water. So if you had 100 gallons then I’d have around 150 or clean up crew members like crabs and snails.

Another thing: monitor your corals and how they react to lighting over the course of the day. I had problems with one of mine and the problems only occurred when the lighting peaked around 5pm so I knew it was too much intensity

Thanks for all the help! I’m still new to this, so much to learn. Trial and error I guess, I’ve been fortunate so far. Loss one hammer already and one banggai cardinal in little less than a year. Fish wasn’t my fault, I suspect he wasn’t eating when I bought him home. Dead 8 hours later and the water was tested and approved by LFS.

First hammer was mine. When I upgraded to this tank, I had an ammonia spike and it never came back. Melted away.

Was your tank cycled because nitrites and ammonia spike in the cycling process then they go back down to zero (that’s when your tank is ready for livestock) ! I’m glad to have helped. Shoot me email and I can sell you some beautiful coral frags at low cost !! My name is Dakota Bronson

It was cycled for 4month before I upgraded. I think all the sand getting tossed up did it. Upgrading was a disaster, wasn’t prepared. It went right back down but shot up over 1ppm. From what I read it was enough to kill it. Only thing I can think of. It was going strong in the old tank.

I’ll do that, wait out this one before I add more. Want to make sure this guy makes it first haha.

I understand. Yeah get some critters to work your sand a little

I removed all sand, never again. Hated it. Water is crystal clear now. I like the look 100x better.

Oh okay! That’s totally fine haha!! If you email
Me I can give you my phone number so you can text me if you have any other questions ?
