Morning Reefers,

I have a question about my hammer. I have had it for about 2 weeks and it looks good to me. My only question is it looks a a few of the bubbles at the end look to be a bit translucent. It still has good colors, goes in and out at night / morning, seems like it is branching into 2 heads. Is this normal or maybe slightly bleaching and turning clear? It is in the middle low portion of the tank so not sure if it should be bleaching with 1 prime hd 16. Let me know your thoughts

Parameters look good
Temp - 77.8
Ammonia- 0
Phos- 0
Nitrate - 2.5
salinity- 1.026

Just from this picture alone I cant really tell. Do take another picture with your white lights on. It’ll really help us see if its really bleaching or just a really puffy swelled up Hammer

I have noticed that translucent look when my hammers send out sweepers to attack nearby corals. do the translucent tentacles seem to be reaching further then the others?

@ OP sweepers should extend like these. These sweepers can look a lot lighter than the rest.

Hammers a little shrunken cause its midnight where I am and I had just turned the lights on for this so they are rudely awaken.

There arent any corals near it, so not sure. It seems like some are more clear than others. Seems like more clear near the split of a new branch maybe they are just being affected by the split?

No they do not look like that. It looks like the main body is getting more clear.

Ok so it looks healthy enough under white lights? Nothing shooting out saying its sick or anything?
It looks good from what I can tell. One of the best indicators for euphyllia health is the flesh on the skeleton. If they are unhappy it will shrink up towards the polyp leaving clean white skeleton behind.

Before I make a judgement. How long have you had this Hammer and especially how long has it been in that location? How much of a difference does it look compared to when u first put it into your tank?
I have had it for 2 weeks and it has been in the same location untouched the whole time. I have a video of it from October 6th and it looks pretty similar, if nothing else it looks larger now / spreads more but maybe slightly more translucent?

When I got it it didnt reach over the plug now it goes past the plug. Maybe just acclimating?

The skeleton looks like nice live flesh kind of a purpleish greenish white idk what color it is haha. For sure not like bright white or dead looking

I think overall your Hammer looks fine. I believe its because its probably liking your tank so its fluffing up taking in more water which will make it look more translucent. But do continue monitor, if the entire Hammer starts getting paler. For the time being leave it be.

forgot to add that if your tank has a much gentler flow than the lfs’s tank, your hammer is definitely going to fluff up bigger.

Ok thank you I will continue to monitor it! Yes it is in a gentler flow I would say so that makes sense.

If it does continue to get more translucent what would be the next course of action?

Here's my hammer now. 2 weeks it is maybe still acclimating all corals are different and each coral of same lps or sps is different same as fish mine did the same thing when I first got it. I even posted just like you some arms were turning see through and translucent. Give it some time and monitor it as stated by others. Don't do to much change or it will stress out and have to re acclimate
