Hello, we have a hammer and the trunk is rapidly disintegrating, revealing white flesh as it does so. Does anyone know what is causing this?
Thank you, Beth

That is very interesting since that section is the dead part of the skeleton. Have you noticed anything chewing on it? What tank inhabitants do you have?

No we have not seen anything chewing on it.

Interesting...... I feel it’s gota be a fish or invert instead of it just disintegrating on its own;Bored
Definitely is something picking at the skeleton.

OP - Keep an eye out for anything that goes under the hammer. The damage is not touching any living tissue and if it breaks in that section it is pretty much fragged for you and you can treat it like so. I would keep in mind that although the suspect is not going after the living tissue now, it can possibly later.
