I was given this coral from a friend in the hobby that was shutting down a tank that had been neglected. He said it wasn't doing great and that it was a green hammer. I am just wondering why it doesn't really look that much like a hammer on the tip of the tentacles.

Could be a Frammer.
Or.. It could just REALLY be unhappy from being in a neglected tank. Some time in a better maintained tank will tell the true tale soon enough

Agreed, I would give it a little time to get happy again, and then you'll be able to tell for sure what it is.

I agree it could have a few tentacles that look like F. paraancora (formerly E. paraancora), if it is indeed severely neglected we'll see how it recovers.

The picture is a little old I will try to get a good one when I get home.
