So I'm a little new to the saltwater world and to start I set up a 15gal truvu hex shaped tank. I introduced a hammerhead about 3 days ago, and although he is open he isn't eating when I target feed. Is this normal and I need to be more patient or am I doing it all wrong?

I have a few can't say I have ever actually seen one of mine eat... my frogspawn will however bring food to its mouth... I wouldn't be too concerned

I actually have a hammer and frogspawn frag. Both take food. My hammer frag has much larger tentacles than yours so maybe it's just more mature and ready to take on food? Just a wild guess.

I use a turkey baster to feed both fish and corals at the same time. I don't do extra feeding. Even though you don't see it taking food try squirting food near it as you feed fish. I'm sure it will get something even though you don't see it actively eating.

Hey could you do me a favor? Please tell us more about your aquarium, lighting and filtration. I would like to be sure all of your equipment is up to par for keeping coral. Your frag is not looking well and we would uld all like to help.

Welcome to reef2reef!

pfisherman may be on to something. I assumed the bottom 2 heads were old... if they should be out there may be some other concerns

grew fine without direct feeding :)
I don't want to hijack, but how did you get your hammer to hold its bright green heads? Every hammer I have ever added fades out. Every other LPS/SPS does fine. I think hammers just hate me. I am assuming it is a nutrient issue since I have tried them it both stronger light and on the bottom but who knows.

Could it be the a "hammerhead" is a shark and you're talking about a "hammer coral"...
