My Hana reads 8.2 dKH and Tropic Marin reads 8.6 dKH on the same sample.
My Hana checker is in spec if u want to call it that. Because the tolerance is 90-110 ppm mine reads 105 ppm
Any one have a good way to go here as far as what to use I want to stay with Hana because it takes my eyes out of the mix. I mean with Tropic Marin the last .1 or .2 dKH is in your eyes I think
Thx

I’d be willing to bet to that the 0.4 difference is within both test margin of error, especially if one is a titration test with colors as compared to the Hanna which is fully automated.
Either way though, the REAL number doesn’t matter as much as keeping it stable does, so I’d just stick with the Hanna to decrease as much human testing error as possible and focus on stability and trends rather than which exact number is right when both numbers are within an acceptable area.

Buy some kh reference fluid and test with both test kits, find out how far out your test kits are so you know in future it is x amount out.
I recently tested my salifert test kit with some 7.5 reference fluid and it read 8.5 so now i know my test kit is reading 1 dkh higher than it actually is.

Or like probably 3/4 of the people out there you are reading your salifert test wrong. I was for YEARS.

Well basically it's the same thing with the tropic marin. The color changeThat's why I want to go back and stick with Digital Hana

My hanna checker always reads .3 lower lately when I use kh reference fluid and test. So I just factor it in when I test. But I was wondering it's about 4 years old and probably has tested alk a 1,000 or more over the years. How long do they last do they lose accuracy as they get older should they be replaced every so many years?

You can get a standard solution from Hanna to use for calibration. It’s like $20 I think

Erm no i wasnt, so i dont understand why you would say i read it wrong
I was simply letting you know that a lot of people, myself included, do/did the tests wrong for a long time as we went by the final color that the instructions said to stop at but when in actuality you are supposed to stop before that.
feel free to read the thread and information provided. No insult implied

I used to go past the end point to a more purple color, and a lot of others have too.
it was only after reading the linked article and seeing the charts that I realized I was reading it wrong. so you may be doing it wrong and not even realize, as I was.
mid this is not the case, than good, but I figured it’s better to share info than not.
