Hang on the back Protein Skimmer

Hello all, decided to get a protein skimmer for my 125 FOWLR tank, Has to be hang on the back. First off If I go with one smaller than "recommended" like say for a 65 or 75 gallon tank(it's space issue) it'll still work right ? It just may fill up the collection cup faster. Any recommendations for a descent model or brand that doesn't cost $ 400. I was really looking to spend somewhere between $100-200. Thanks !

I don’t recommend going with something rated for half your tank size.

Reef Octopus make good skimmers. The Classic 1000 HOB should fit your needs, but maybe not your budget

Yeah that would be cool, I thought they only had two kinds . Sits in your sump and hangs on the back. I don't have a sump on this tank(power filters ).

I agree you should double up on the skimmer size, and I think that an over sized skimmer is so much more beneficial than power filters.

I used a Tunze 9012 DC on my sumpless tank and it did a good job. I also used their internal filter.
