Hanging UV Sterilzer

I have a Red Sea Reefer 250. I have an Aqua hang on tank UV sterilizer that I want to put on the system. The sterilizer is too tall to hang on the sump. I was thinking of hanging it off the overflow return box with the pump in the sump. This would pump 250-300 gallons/hr into the overflow box . Is this a good idea? Can the overflow box and downflow tubes handle the extra volume? Will this flow into the overflow box interfere with the dynamics of the overflow from the tank?
