My Hanna Checker says my Alk is 145ppm. My APi test says alk is 6dKH. I did both tests twice with the same results. Which test should I believe? I would assume hanna, but I just want to be sure since the Hanna is saying the alk is around 8.1 dKH which is a lot more than the API at 6dKH.

I would guess the Hanna but wouldn't trust either till I compared with another test.

I like/trust my hanna ALK. Only little meter I trust.

I bounced my Hanna Alk tester off of my API test kit today and the API was reading almost 1 DKH low. I'd trust the Hanna tester as well.

I don't have any other tests available to me. I can test my alk with a newer API alk kit though.

I never trusted API anyway. I was going to buy a salifert, but after starting biopellets, I decided the checker was the best buy.

It sucks, I thought my dKH was at 7 when I started biopellets. Makes me wonder what it was really at when I had readings of 8 with the API.

i think the hanna reads a lil higher than the powder tests. i tested my water as well with a hanna and compared it to my lamonte test kit and had about the same difference between the 2 as you have.

This is how I look at it. If you use the hanna and read 125ppm which comes to like 8dkh I think if you keep it steady at that its going to be a steady 8dkh even if your true lvl is a 9 youll still stay at that get me? Its not like the hanna po4 meter where it just gives you any number it feels that day.

My issue is with the biopellets. If my alk is to high, the tips will bleach. I don't want to use burnt tips on acros as the sign that my alk is to high.

PS, 125 is 7 dKH. Which is what I am shooting for.
