Quick question, been noticing every once in a while when using the Hanna Alk checker that first cuvette where it calibrates will take a long time (15-20 seconds). But other times it's super quick like 2 seconds or less. Am I doing something wrong or is this a quirk with this device? I normally run the test twice just to make sure I get a consistent result, but I've noticed sometimes theres a difference in the results depending how long that first cuvette takes.

I have noticed the difference in time as well. But it has never affected the test results.

hmm I noticed this on mine sometimes too, but not for a while now. Not sure what it means TBH, but I'm curious myself. How much of a difference is there? I know they have +/- 0.3 dKH. Maybe an unclean cuvette can cause this? Just shooting in the dark here

I agree with you, I've seen a difference of about .3 dKH. I thought about the dirty cuvette too, I try to make sure I clean the outside real good before the test. Maybe I'm just streaking the gunk around and not noticing.

I've also seen the time discrepancy but not in the results. If it's not dirty glass then my guess is on micro bubbles or color change (reagent not fully mixed) in the tube.

I've experienced the same issue with time... but the results are fine. I've even tested multiple times to double/triple check.

Mine will generally do this if the battery is getting close to needing replacement. Its also happened on occasion when I havent used it in a few days. You can also check to ensure nothing is inside of the test chamber blocking the "eye". A quick blast with canned air or the compressor should take care of it.

I always clean the outside of the glass vile before inserting it into the tester. Using my t shirt most of the times. Any type of finger print will cause issues. I clean it again after put the reagent in the tester.

HA! That's funny, I use the patented T-Shirt Method too.
