Hanna alk reagent off by 4dkh??

So I recently bought a new bottle of Hanna alk reagent for my Hanna checker and it ended up being off by more thank 4 DKH. I just opened a new bottle and tested my alk and it was 12.5 DKH. It was testing it at 8-8.5 and now it’s over 12. Has anyone else had this problem before. I also bought a Hanna calibration fluid test kit and the tester was spot on. Very weird.

So I literally just watched a video from fish of hex where he talked about a bottle of reagent being .5 off. Never heard of anything before today and now it’s 2. Bad batch maybe........ I use Hanna daily for my alk so a little concerning

Yea it definitely is. I also used a Red Sea and another one that where accurate but I hope I don’t get another bad batch.

Hanna Alk reagents drive me absolutely crazy. Even after working in labs as a grad student, and following all proper techniques when I test, every time I open a new bottle from a new batch I am wary of the difference the checker gives me. Sometimes it is off by .3-.5 but sometimes the difference between bottles can be up to 1 DKH. I have seen them [Hanna] respond on the forums blaming the cuvette being dirty, or the syringe being dirty, or not having proper amount of water or reagent in the vial, or a number of other factors. However, the fact of the matter is, their reagents are NOT consistent, and it has been extremely frustrating for me lately, to the point where I loathe having to change to a new reagent bottle. However, because I am color blind I only have the Hanna option or the expensive options with KH director/Trident/Mindstream/Alktronic, and they are just a little expensive for me right now.

I hate the Hanna checker for alk.. it's frustrating to use and never gives the same result even though I do back to back to back on the same water.
