I am having an issue with my alk checker with it giving me inaccurate readings.

Both checkers, I bought a second one when the first one stopped working and then the second one started working a month later, give the same readings.

However, every time the first reading shows alk low in the 5 dkh and the second reading shows in closer to 7. I've been around 7 for months so I think the 7 is more accurate but now I do not know.

This has been plaguing me through 2 different regents and it doesn't matter which container i use, the regeant always show low and then high on the second.

I've even swapped containers and still saw the same issues.

Has this happened to anyone before and what did you do to solve it?

What is your routine? How do you perform the test? One vial to zero and a second with reagent? Or one vial for both? How do you clean. Sounds like there is an issue in your process. Give some details and hopefully we can figure it out.

I do the same process every day.

same vial for regeant and zero. I use nitrile gloves the entire time and wipe and clean the vials before i start the process.

When the first one is low. I use a new vial and try again. This results in a higher number.

Sometimes, Ill use a third vial zero it again and use the two previous vials on this new zero. Both vials give readings roughly the same as before.

I have purposely used different vials from the previous day and sure enough the same issue occurs.

Not really sure. I use it daily and have never had that. I use a microfiber on the vial before it goes in the checker each time. Wish I had an idea.

I have found that if the regent is left open the fluid is compromised. One of the most important things I’ve done to prevent this is first thing I do is gently shake it then I open it then I draw up the 10units and immediately seal it with the lid. When I test alk the bottle is open no longer then 10 seconds each time. Hope this helps because I’ve seen people open it draw fluid and lit it sit open till they finish test. This is a no no

Yeah it was working so well until a few weeks ago. :/.

Thank you for trying to help.
