Just as a reminder, and we all know they change, but this was pretty extreme

Last 10%ish of the reagent bottle - and got the 6.2. and 5.4 - switched to a fresh bottle and was back up - usually runs 9.0

Of interest when tested 4-5 days ago it had slid to 8.1 so I bumped up the Alk

Think i will start to store reagent in the wine cooler

Lets see how it goes.

My alkalinity regent last me at least a year or two after being opened the trick is to have the bottle open least as possible every time I open the bottle it is open for no more than 10 seconds and capped immediately!!! You probably fall in the boat of people who open up the cap take the Regent out and then leave the bottle on the counter open for the next 30 minutes while you do your testing

And always check the expiration date on the package when buying.

there was a post where someone stated specifically which reagents should be stored in a refrigerator/small cooler wish i could find it!

Aren't you only supposed to use 25mL out of the 30mL in the bottle?
if this is so I think I missed it - and would seem to be the case with me

for clarity, it is the 4th or 5th bottle have gone through and while I suspect a little drift in the bottle, this was a cliff

I love being ignored so how long do you leave the bottle open when you take the Regent out and has there ever been a few times that you forgot to put the cap on right away

thanks however in this case likely not 30 minutes. Used to be a bench scientist during the day and usually pay attention to these things, like using parafilm around the ports where tubes go in and out of my Kalk reservoir...

When Air gets subjected to the fluid it starts to degrade it the more air and the longer the air is allowed to get to the fluid the more and faster the grades it

Overtime with the multiple uses in the many times the bottle is opened this is what happens like I said mine is never open longer than 10 seconds And mine last a year or two after opened
