My sps tank has taken off and alk demand is getting high. I'm hoping with the release of Neptunes Trident I'll be able to monitor it more efficiently, but in the meantime I find myself getting two readings from my Salifert and RS Alk Pro kits.

I'm wondering if I should invest in the Hanna tester as it would be a clearer /digital read? Anyone with experience can chime in?
Thanks in advance

I used salifert for many years. I still use salifert for calcium, magnesium, and nitrate. But, IMO you can’t beat the Hanna checkers for alkalinity, ULR phosphate, and copper.

I love my checker. That said, I focus more on keeping the number stable than how it compares to other test kits. For example my red sea alkalinity kit reads a little higher on average and I don't know which is more accurate, so I just try to get stable checker readings.

Sounds like you are having great luck. You could forget about the “real” value of alkalinity and shoot for consistency. Use your current value at which your coral are doing fine as your target and shoot to maintain that level with the alkalinity kit you are currently using. If you switch kits, measure alkalinity on the same water sample with both kits. Even though the numbers might differ, each number refers to what your coral like.
