Hanna Alkalinity Checker

I learned to use a new bottle when the old one is almost empty. I then test both bottles against each other to make sure new one is good.
This is good practice to follow to ensure they're both within range or you can find the variation

Funny this has come up, I test ever few days for alk and the last few months my alk has been stable at 8.1. Over the weekend I tested 8.5 which I was surprised, I tested the next day and it was read at 9.3. I could not believe that test and low and behold the reagent bottle was low so I tried a new bottle and tested at 8.1...

I firmly believe when it gets low something is wrong with the reagents..

Always have another method to test alk or anything else for that matter.
I have used Hanna alk fo 5+ years now. When I only ran a test evey 3-4 days I would notice the same.
I test every day in the morning and log it now.
1 bottle lasts a little less than a month and their has beens no difference in readings.
Its only $10 a month.
With that said I think the reading can vary over time.

it's not the bottle differences i noticed as those were spot on, but when the bottle gets low i believe there is something going on, maybe more solids at the bottom even thu i shake the bottle, when i noticed a big difference

Another reefer here gave me the advice of marking off 25 tests on each bottle with a sharpie. At the end of the 25 tests you will likely have about 2 ml (guessing as I forget the actual amount) of reagent left which should be tossed out.

Interesting...this could help explain what I’ve been experiencing also.

I was originally thinking my reading was different because I accidentally bought the ppm reagent instead of the dkh. (Hi755 instead of Hi722s)
