i was told by an aquarium service person when i bought a full suite of Checkers that Hanna Alk and Cal always shoot high, i did not really pay attention as i guess everyone has their own opinion and for me Hanna is more reliable than comparing a colour chart.
So i bought the reference solutions for DKH and Cal and both of my Hanna's read bang on within their correction parameters.
I have been through several batches of reagents so far but both show no abnormal variation outside of their - + parameters.
Clean your vials inside and out with Hanna solution now and then, i also clean vials every now and then with dilute Nitric Acid, rinse well with 0 tds before and after your test, always wipe with Hanna vial cleaner and glass cloth before C1 and after C2 reagent addition, place the vial in the same position on C1 and C2 tests, always measure your 10 ml to the bottom of the meniscus curve and draw your reagent in a smooth consistent motion to the 1ml mark.
The more effort you make in cleanliness and accuracy, the more repeatable and consistent your test results will be
