Anyone use a hanna meter to test for cupramine? I just got mine in today and it says it’s sitting at .21 after I have put in the full dose of cupramine. (20 drops per 10 gallons or whatever it said on the bottle.) Doesn't seem quite right to be that low though. I would expect low .40’s, but not .21... Thoughts?

I put 20 more drops in and it only brought it up to .23....any other meds interfere with the accuracy?

Bare bottom qt tank with a piece of pvc in there. I have a Marineland polishing filter in there with a 1 micron paper filter with de loaded in it. I also have a HOB filter and air stone for water movement and an incandescent desk lamp for light. Had dosed Prazi in the tank last week, but don’t know how much water I’d need to change out before pushing on with the copper or if needed at all.

The polishing filter is most likely absorbing some of the copper, and maybe the DE.
Remove any poly/carbon/etc filters. Re-test and re-dose.
Sponge filters may be OK, but not LR

I read you could run the filter and copper because it doesn’t filter out to the chemical level. Maybe I will have to pull it out and see. I dosed another 20 drops which doubled the instructions. I will retest in the morning.

Not saying what you are using is the issue, just throwing it out there for you to look into

Many things can absorb copper making dosing tricky and risky

What were your test results this morning?

Also the 20 drops in half dose recommendation by the manufacturer to avoid shock when treating the chemical. You should slowly bring up to .5ppm over 3-4 days ideally.

So after the first measure it was .20 this morning. After not believing that reading I tested again using same samples and vials and came up with .22-.24 after a half dozen times. Then I tried with the base sample from my main tank without the Prazi in it and the test came out to be .33. So....I guess it does have something to do with it? Both have the same salt and RO/DI base. I am also using stress guard in the QT tank. Not really sure where to go from here. Empty the tank completely and start with copper power or continue to dose this, but to which level and what base? The multi test copper is again worthless as a back up. It gives me a range, but nothing solid. Been ramping this up for 5 days now btw.
