Does anyone know if hanna has improved the calcium checker?

According to Marine Depot They have revamped the checker and now it is working. We will see I ordered another one.

Has anyone figured out how to get ALL of the powder from the packages to drop into the tubes :squigglemouth:? I'm sure some kind of trick would give me a better reading!

I have one. I don't know if it is the old or new version. But it does not work properly. Readings are way off.

I had one of the pre-release Calcium kits for testing and even that worked ok....not sure what there was to fix. Once I figured out all the steps I could get a 1:1 match every time with a Salifert kit.

It is a difficult kit to use because there are a lot of steps that all have to be done exactly as their videos and written instructions show. Drip kits like Salifert are MUCH more forgiving.

If you haven't watched their videos on how to care for the vials, how to get all the powder out of the packetized reagents, etc...do yourself a favor and check them all out. Very helpful.

About 2 months ago I purchased a Hanna cal from Amazon. It seemed to work ok returning expected results and was very close to the Salifert kit. After a week the Hanna started returning really high results in the 550-650 range. I sent it back and requested a replacement. Since then the replacement has worked fine. As far a a trick to get all the powder out of the pack, I use a 4" square of foil. Fold it over one time and then after opening back up you can invert the pack onto the foil and use it as a funnel.

Been using mine for a year and never had a problem aside from running out of reagent.

I contacted Marine Depot and they did confirm that the units have been Improved. Received mine yesterday and it match's up to the salifiert test kit.
