I'm sure there is a thread on here about this, sorry:( Anyway I'm using my Hanna calcium checker for the first time and it's showing 560 ppm which I'm assuming is to high(?) would appreciate any and all suggestions on if this is to high what should I do?

would confirm with another test, check ALK and make sure that it is in range and if all checks out you can wait and watch your calcium level come down as it gets used.

Ok thank you, am I correct in saying its to high?

This is a common user error in using the Hanna calcium meter.
How much tank water are you adding?

0.1 ml , I had also purchased the api reef master kit but heard they are no good

Many people find the Hanna calcium checker unreliable, but if the calcium is 560 ppm, it is no concern. Just let it very slowly fall on its own. :)
Thank you so much, I have a few corals that are not doing well and was concerned about the level of calcium. All my parameters are good but haven't checked the alk. yet, will be the next thing I check.

Was not a fan of the hannah calcium test... use salifert, much easier to use.

Thank you.:)

No problem!

Is all the powder out of the packet? No? Maybe? Oh some of it fell on my desk b/c the packet is huge..... Is that going to affect my test? what the heck is this?

My thoughts whilst doing this test........

Oh I can top that... Had to call Hanna as one of the syringes measurements was backwards. Apologetic but of course said there were 2 different manufacturers for them, well gee don't you check them before the kit is put together?

Just got a brand new alk kit with the same thing.

Garbage garbage garbage. Not accurate not reliable. I bought one and got the same obsurd number of 560. I test every day with salifert and my kit went dry so I tried my brand new hanna calcium checker while watching video online of the test. Every hanna checker I bought and tried is junk. Maybe it's time we all get together and file a class action suit to get our money back. Manufacturers making big bucks selling faulty items that don't work at the expense of our reefs. Im sick of it!!

I personally love the Hannah alk test, easy, and accurate.

Try the Red Sea Kit. A few days ago I did 5 separate tests with my Hanna Calcium Checker and it was all over the place.
