I've owned the alk. version for years. I think it's a great product. When I purchased it yeara ago, I remember the calcium version being inaccurate or at least inconsistent. Has it improved in either or bith departments?
 
Got a jug of CVS distilled water just for the test. Took a few mess ups but now it takes me less than 5 min and dead on accurate. Very easy to mess up quick to master though.

That’s what I meant distilled
 
You don't have to use the water but I'm just mentioning since the op is looking for accuracy. According to Hanna there could be a small amount of calcium in the distilled water. For our purposes it's negligible.
