I see Hanna Calibration materials for sale, how often are you suppose to calibrate them?

You can't actually calibrate the Hanna Phosphate ULR checker.
The colored fluid standards are just to "check" if the checker is reading accurately (based on the standards).

So do they fail often? Guess I should of looked into that before I bought all of them:confused:

No idea but most of the Hanna checkers have a pretty good reputation.
I have some and love them but I'm color blind so they're almost a necessity for me and I've only had them for a little over 2 years.

What did you mean by, "bought all of them"?

LEDs and sensors shouldn't drift much over time. Reagent quality is the problem with Hannas and these won't check for that.

Phosphate high and low, PH, Salinity, Nitrate high and low, Mag, calcium, DKH I may have missed one. I cant see the colors also

Wow... all in, eh?
Most people wouldn't find the need to have "high and low" of the same thing.

Opinion only but I have and like Phosphate ULR, Nitrate HR, Alkalinity dKH,,, and even the Salinity tester (for some purposes).
*the others seemed too "iffy" or unnecessary to me, personally

FWIW, I use Salifert for Calcium (just based on reading concerns about Hanna checker) and employ a helper for the color change. Mag too but rarely check that.

IME Ive only had to replace all of them once in several yrs, so rough guess 3-4 yrs under heavy use

I agree with the last poster:

yup I mostly use the above and IME the Calcium checker is junk

If you want to calibrate a Checker method, you will need to buy a reference standard. The colored fluid approach only confirms the Checker is working but not the reagents.

Using my Hanna for 3 years, is excellent IME at giving good results for phosphate in contrast to most other test I’ve tried.
The calibration is to your water without agent (C1) then with agent (C2).

I have other brands too, mostly use them to look for a shift in the numbers I don't really put much weight on the number. If it looks good don't fix it
