Hanna checker hack!

I'm not sure if anyone has tried this with the Hanna cuvettes, but I was cleaning and drying with r.o water and it seemed to leave some residue on the glass.

But for the past week I have been rinsing thoroughly and then filling the cuvettes with r.o water and storing them full they seem to stay clean and its quicker on my time!

I don’t do this but I dip in vinegar every now and then and then rinse is RODI and wipe with a Q tip. But I do rinse in RODI after each use. Readings seem consistent. I also replace my cuvettes every year just as a precaution. Those readings need to be consistent!!!

See I was trying to get the air out because the dry spot could make residue there, its almost impossible but now I keep the bubble in the cap because atleast that spot isn't being tested..

I'm still learning the checkers but so far they are all sweet!

I half fill them with tank water, shake them up and throw this first fill away. I then refill and run the tests.

I also have one of their cleaning cloths (which admittedly aren't cheap) in each box and I make sure each cuvette is clean and dry before I put it in the tester, both for accuracy and to protect the testers.

Does having the water inside them degrade the lining inside the cap at all? I would think they're not designed with constant moisture in mind..

I'm not sure, time will tell but I think its probably ok for a week between tests, but just in case I always keep new extras.
Another hack for new cuvettes on br.s you can buy two packs of these with caps for cheaper than you can buy 4 caps? I hope this doesn't go away now! 1pk of 2 for 8$ or 4 caps for 21$ ?

I think Ryan mentioned it on a brstv video a while back. I remember watching about a week after I picked up the nitrate checker, so I’ve been doing it since day one more or less. It’s useful, but doesn’t make the nitrate checker any easier to use sadly

I was just going to mention this:

4 caps are now $27. 4 cuvettes are $21 for a total of $48 for for 4 complete cuvettes.

Or you can buy 2 of the 2-packs at $8 each, for a total of $16

I'm not aware of any differences and, IMO, Hanna should discontinue the more expensive versions to avoid people being ripped off (or appropriately adjust the prices).

well ive notified them of a mistake similar to this before, with barely a thank you or compensation, since it was an order and my time... so this time i hope they dont, but i hope the people{fellow reefers} do so they can get a discount!

see this question on another thread, someone answered that the lid is made of some material that doesn't degrade.

Been doing the same for years, saw immediately more consistent results when I made the switch. Only difference is I store my vials standing so there is no air bubble below the thread line

Thats the conclusion I stumbled upon too keep it up top! Thank you for the backup
