Has anyone used the Hanna Checker for calcium? Just wanted to know if you reefers would recommend this product? Also it looks like it you need to have DI water to use it...is that a fact?

Thanks in advance,

Corey

Yes works well, but you really should have RO DI water for the test and to clean out the tubes otherwise it will be off more then you can trust.

I have all 3. The Cal i dont use. Readings are all over the map. Alk and phos i use and love

Just had a local reefer demo his alk Hanna checker for me the other day. It seemed incredibly easy. I'm using Salifert right now, which is fine, but planning to switch to Hanna after I'm out.

I use Red Sea Pro for my Cal test. Getting a bottle of Hanna water. This is what im told with make the Hanna Cal tester work.. Sounds like a waste of money, but no more than the 50 bux for the tester.

I was just about to post a new thread about the Hanna Calcium Checker. I tested my water today and it was 600! I just don't think this can be right. This checker has never shown anything less than 585. I have all the other Hanna testers and love them.

On the phosphate checker is there a powder raegent like the calcium checker has? I find the powders to be the worst to try to fit in the little bottle and wonder how accurate they can be when there is always some residue of the powder left in the package....

Phosphate uses powder. I use this technic for the most part. Science Demonstration: Adding a Reagent - YouTube I fold a little better V in the packet before pouring. After pouring I stretch the seams open a little more by pulling the nonseam sides freeing any left over powder. Then pour in any left that didn't pour out the first time. This gets almost all the powder every time.
