Hanna Checkers: Would you buy them?

Calcium one sucks, but the others are ok. The phosphorous is vital (reading x 3.0661/1000 = ppm)
Only other tests that measure that accurately and low for po4 would probably be triton or some other commercial water analysis...

I use the phosphate and have recently ordered the copper hanna test kits.

I just wish they came with a super tiny funnel to avoid spilling the powder. That can be a real PITA! I prefer salifert for my alk,mag, Cal and nitrate tests.

If you buy make sure you get the calibration solution, mine was out of calibration and my Alk was at 4dkh and my Checker was reading 7dkh, my SPS started to STN for a couple months until I figured out the issues.

I own all 3 and tho some are easier than others I get as accurate as I
Can get with my Hanna's. Nothing's better than a digital readout. I would recommend them to any1 with a salt tank.

Thinking about getting the Alkalinity, Calcium, and Phosphate checker. I've seen mixed reviews. Would you do it?

I have the Alk and Phosphorous checker. Alk seems to give bad readings based on the bad reagent and Hanna is switching the reagent to a powder rather than liquid. There is a possibility all my sps died due to the bad reagents used in the Alk checker as I ran the system on Zeovit and the Alk was at 10 instead of 8 which the Alk hanna checker showed.

Also even-though the Phosphorous checker instructions are somewhat off, it says to add the powder and swirl for two minutes however the checker has a 2 min auto time off meaning the cuvette has to be shaken which means microbubles collect which can give a different end result.

All I use is Hanna checkers, being colorblind makes the liquid color changing tests pointless for me. I've never had any issues with any of my reagents that I know of, they're were issues with some batches for the alk, but I think Hanna straightened that out.

The Hanna Phosphate ULR is worth the money. Relatively easy to use and delivers low level phosphorous results you won't get from many other tests.

The Alk/Calc tests are probably nice and more accurate than some Alk/Calc tests, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. I use cheap API kits for these as I don't care if I'm off by a dkh or two on Alk and 20ppm on Calc.

at least with Hanna you only need to buy replacement reagents. Not like the other manufacturers, you have to buy whole new kits

I have not been able to get reliable, consistent results. The sample size is so small....

I have all three and the ultra low. Results have been unbelievable on occasion and my back up test kits (salifert) have show more consistent results. Typical agreement. Between the two is about 75%.

I went ahead and ordered the low phosphate tester but passed on the others.
