Hanna checkers

I think the Nitrate(high range) and phosphate(either one) are worth using. Personally don't think any of the others are worthwhile.

I have the NO3 (high range), dKH and PO4 (ultra low range). I also invested in some standards as I was getting some big difference between my auto checker and my Hanna checkers.

What are the two must haves for the Hanna checkers. Nitrate, calcium, po3, alk or magnesium?
Answers will differ but essentials are Alk-calcium-phos and nitrate
If it must be two based on budget and immediate needs, Alk and phosphate and alk work with calcium but no sense adjusting calcium if alk is out of whack

Nobody mentioned Copper High Range, but if you quarantine fish and treat them with copper it’s a must.
I'd suggest that depends on what type of copper treatments you have available.

If you only have ionic copper/citric acid available, HR copper is useless at measuring 0.18-0.20pm with suitable accuracy.

While I have not used any, if I wanted to measure phosphate I’d use a Hanna ULR.

I’m not sure I’d pick any of the others over other kits, or not measuring that parameter with any kit.

@sergifed91 I like Hanna testers where the other option depends on me reading a color scale. Since I can measure Ca and Mg using a titration test those are pretty easy.

So I use Hanna for salinity, Alkalinity — although you could titrate that one and I’ve experienced issues if I let the reagent get too old once the seal is broken. Also use the ULR phosphorous because it has better low end sensitivity than the ULR phosphat e.

Hanna calcium checker is trash imo.. Love their nitrate, alk n phos checkers tho

I have the first nitrate kit and such a pita .
I’ve read the calcium kit is similar

I also have the salinity tested . It works ok but I still prefer the old cheap refractometer

Yah I have the hr nitrate checker. Simple and less steps than their LR checker I believe

The lr you had to know the nitrate level whether it was < 5 ppm or > 5ppm before proceeding with the test .
Having new saltwater on hand to use as a standard

I will stick with salifert for nitrates for now .
