Hanna HI755 vs HI772 Reagent

I own a Hanna HI755 Alkalinity tester. I ordered a replacement reagent and ordered reagent for the HI772. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

I just went through this exact same thing. I was shown an email from another reefer from hanna saying that they are the same reagent and they are discontinuing the 755 and only sending the 772.

They are the same meter with different units reported.

Hanna updated the reagent product code used for the HI772 dKH Alkalinity Checker. The new code is: HI772-26 Marine Alkalinity Checker® HC Reagents for HI772

This have been updated from the HI755-26. The chemical used is still the same we just created a new code to match our reagent categorization system. The HI755-26 Alkalinity reagent for the ppm Marine Checker is still an active code and the reagents can be used interchangeably.

Thanks. I just called Hanna this week about this question and they assured me that they are NOT interchangeable
I do think they are interchangeable though as the only difference is how the checker calibrates ppm to dkh by an algorithm (the conversion table basically).

Unfortunately, technical reps from hobby companies often do not fully understand their own products.

The rep is probably right. I did a google search and I end up here on this thread. I was running out of HI772S valid till 04/21 and just purchased the HI 755-26 from my LFS. I already performed at least 3 tests on the last 3 days and they show 28ppm difference every single time. Mind you, I took my time to calibrate the actual tester 3 times as well. My test on the 755 is lower.

Now i am totally confused! 28ppm difference? I just checked 28ppm is like a 1.5DKH!!!!!! I did not do any calibration on those meters ever.

Do you have a sense of the difference "without" the calibration piece?

Just finished testing both reagents again. Same thing. The old code reagent(HI755)is giving me 160ppm and the new code reagent(HI722)is giving me 138ppm. I do have the calibration kit(HI755-11)and it always reads 94ppm(acceptable results must be between 90 and 110ppm)for my calibrations. The difference went down to 22ppm but still a lot in my books. I'm as confused as you are!

this is really strange. I used to go with an old salifert (opened over a year ago) so i ditched it. Before starting to use the HI 755 i checked with a friend who uses Salifert and his Salifert and the 755 (using 722 reagents) were both exactly the same...8.5dkh. So based on that, i started using the 755 exclusively and using it to tweak alk in my tank as we speak.
It does not really make much sense to me that the two reagents would differ coz the only difference between the two is that 755 gives PPM (and you use a table to convert to dkh) and 722 spells out Dkh but inside the meter itself it probably spits out results in ppm and the meter converts it through an algorithm to dkh!!!! So not really clear on the difference here.
UNLESS there is some other difference between the two meters that HI is no telling!! Like maybe the led used for each is different so it needs a different reagent or something!!

Yea they are the same thing only difference is the display, 1 displays dkh like 8.0 the other does ppm
