Good Morning All-

I am 2 weeks in to my new tank cycling and had a question. I have the seachem ammonia badges in all 3 tanks I have set up (1 DT and 2 QT fish and coral). I don’t have animals yet as I was trying to get them all fairly cycled and just efficiently running before I started buying anything. I have been testing ammonia and recently 2 of the seachem badges have gone down to the yellow which according to it Is safe. Yet when I test with my HannaLR checker it goes to the 3.00 and blinks saying the paramaters are too high to test. I tried moving the Seachem ammonia badges to different tanks and they went up and down accordingly depending on which tank I put it in yet it still blinks at 3.00 for each aquarium. How can one thing (I understand the badges maybe should be as reliable but to be that far off?) say everything is in the safe range finally cause they haven’t said that and my Hanna be that high? Test also says for a High Range test I can dilute but I don’t see anywhere what that means or how to do it. Thanks for any help you can give. Also just to be safe I tested our tap water and it read 0 with the Hanna checker.

Oh and once the seachem badges went to yellow in 2 of my tanks I dosed an additional 2ppm of ammonia to see if they would rise and come back down within 24 hours which they both did.

if you're using the Hanna egg for ammonia, it's only for freshwater I believe.
I just rechecked BRS which is where I bought. You are 100% correct. I didn’t even notice that. Thank you so much. I guess I need to go buy a new test kit! I am so bummed I bought a fresh water test kit!

yea I don't think Hana actually has an ammonia checker for saltwater, not the egg checkers anyway
