i wonder to know before i order if you are using or satisified from Hanna Instruments Aquarium Checkers such as Calcium and Alkalinity.
i use phosphate and i think its good but i dont know the others.
any recommandations ?

is it accurate ? need to make calibration from time to time ?

Alk is great the calcium is not worth the money to me just because I don't have the patience for putting the tiny powder packets in the vial.

You will find that I like most people on this forum use a mixed bag of testing equipment for testing our parameters in our tanks. I use Hannah, Red Sea, and Salifert.. Additionally, I have some of the same exact test for each one as I'd never ever put 100% trust in one brand of test kit that said Hannah makes a great product and I personally don't feel you're going to have any problems with them... that's the first time I've ever heard about needing to be recalibration.

Alk is very accurate I have been using mine for 3ish years. Last month I bought the alk checker solution it is about 10 dollars and let's you know if it is still reading within range.

I just ordered the Hanna Alk, I'm now a firm believer in them. I was having issues with the calc initially so I contacted Hanna directly. I do know most errors are user errors, but I also know I'm extremely careful with my procedures. After sharing my procedure, they were kind enough to send a small bottle of their highly distilled water. Once I started using that I had no issues. I spoke with one of their technicians and he mentioned that the TDS meters on our RODI units will not always detect small amounts of calcium in the water. Because of the sensitivity of the Hanna tester these small amounts of calcium can offset the checker reading. If you call Hanna directly you can order a gallon of their distilled water for $20. What I don't know, and they couldn't distinguish, was the quality difference between off the shelf distilled water and Hanna's ultra pure distilled water. So for now I'm sticking with their water.

Go with the Hanna's and I promise you won't go back. Once you get the hang of the testers you'll realize they are efficient and very accurate. Just remember that most eradicate readings are user error either due to sloppy methods and/or lack of clean vials. I personally use a small jewel scale that I bought on amazon for $10 and have a dedicated microfiber cleaning cloth for the vials. I'm a bit over kill, but keep that in mind.

Also remember that the people at Hanna are very helpful. If you need a contact let me know.
