Hanna iodine checker accurate?

Hello ,
Two weeks ago i bought the hanna iodine checker.When i got it, i mesured the iodine in my tank after a big water change, it was 0,08.
One week later i checked it again and now it is 0,0?? I added a bit iodine and did again the test the day after, same 0,0!
And i'm dosing daily ati essentials. So i think have zero iodine in one week is probably impossible ?

Have you done an ICP test before? I like to take the sample and use all my tests to confirm accuracy

Actually hold on, isn't that HI718 which is a freshwater colorimeter? BRS doesn't carry it but has the reagents under the freshwater category. It may not function properly in saltwater.

Sorry not see your replay ,yes it is the 718, it is not for salt water??

I would check with Hanna but I don't believe so. That may be why it isn't working right.

I was about to ask when Hanna offered a saltwater iodine tester. I was about to roll up on BRS flashin the dollars. Guessing it's not going to give accurate results in saltwater

As an aside, iodine also does deplete very rapidly in many aquaria.

Definitely. Late reply, but I dose iodine in small amounts daily.

I dosed it for years, but them when I stopped, I saw no difference in the aquarium.

I assume you do water changes? I've been more or less experimenting with no water changes, managing export and supplementation. Having some minor issues but nothing crazy.

Yes, I changed ~1% daily, but that does almost nothing to maintain iodine. Foods add more than that.

Many years after I stopped dosing iodine, an ICP test by Triton showed 0.022 ppm. That may include iodine-containing organics as well as iodide and iodate since ICP cannot distinguish chemical forms.
