I received my new checker HI783. They are the exact same model as the old one they said throw away. The checker looks exactly like the old version. Other than using different reagents how is someone supposed to tell the difference. You would think Hanna would have changed the Model Number.

New ones now have a timer. But yeah no other way to tell them apart.

I would imagine they will show up used for sale.

Does anyone know if the liquid reagent is the same. I had a full one in my old kit and a spare one I bought.

Post 135 in above thread, hannah posted about new checker and what to do with old checker and some faq, not sure if in this post they shared a link but pretty sure they did in another hanna magnesium thread which they say they replying info on the threads on r2r about mag checker.

Could also tag hanna rep from post 135 if any questions.
If already seen hanna reply sorry ^_^

Reagent B is now a powder. The checker itself has been updated to include a 3 minute timer.
Has anyone checked the accuracy of the new one?
Nyos test kit : 1440
This new checker with the new powder reagent B : 1440.

Quite spot on.

My first few tests were spot on. After half dozen. Theyre already drifting high

So I just submitted a question on Hanna's website about this and I received this notice:

So, if they don't like the question, it does not appear on their website.

Take that for what you will... #hannahinstruments

I got my replacement in the mail recently. From what I’ve tested it’s a little higher than salifert and trident. Those three tests are within 100ppm Of each other however. Fine with that. I found the first version at reefapalooza at the Hanna booth and the information regarding the false readings was already known. I of course purchased a kit. The rep said the kit was 200ppm high. Definitely 300+ppm high I found. I was surprised to receive the email about getting a whole new checker. It seems a shame to throw away a full kit and device. Big dent for Hanna

Don’t need to toss old checker. Even on instruction card with updated checker it shows you can use the old checker with new resgent, just have to set a 3 min timer
