Is the Hanna HR or LR nitrate checker a better overall product for an average reef hobbyist?
 
The HR is the better choice for most hobbyists. Much easier to use and tests a higher range. Get the LR only if you want super accurate readings between 0-5 ppm.
 
Don't bother with the low range unless you want to run an ULNS tank which isn't even that popular anymore given how many people end up with dinos and cyano.
 
For the hobby level, stick to the HR checker.

The LR checker is far too complicated and the higher precision just doesn't matter for a reef tank.

Uff im glad I purchased the HR... Dre from WWC recommended it after I asked 10 times lol.
