Anyone have one of these? considering getting one, just wondering how long do they last? The cloth junction is renewable but how often does this need doing? Think I read there is enough cloth for 7 replacements but in general does this need doing monthly? I know it’s depended on usage but just to give me a general idea and also would you recommend the Hanna?

Don't personally have the pH Hanna checker but I have the nitrate and phosphate checkers. They are reliable and have lasted a while. It depends on how often you test that decides how often you need to replace the reagents. I know for the phosphate checker it is good for 25 tests before needing replacements.

The ph meter is different to the checkers, no reagents as such, just calibration solutions, cleaning solutions and storage solution and also the cloth junction, which is what I was asking about, wondering how often this needs pulling out to refresh it.

You mean the one that’s same overall shape as the salinity meter right? A friend of mine has one and it seems pretty accurate. Doesn’t mean it can’t be off but it does it’s job

Yeah that’s the one, it’s just the cloth junction device is putting me off buying it, until I know how often it’s likely to need renewing, with all the solutions needed, which aren’t cheap, I’m not buying the meter if it’s only going to be good for a few months.

I use a Vivosun pH meter for my tank and it has lasted me over 6 months with accurate reads, but I have also seen others have some issues with it in much shorter time.

@Hanna Instruments could you please answer the question in the op, how often is the cloth junction likely to need pulling out to renew the cloth, as I’m wondering how long the ph meter is going to last.

thanks.

Get a milwaukee ph meter with a quality probe. I use the apex probe.
I have an old Hanna ph/tds meter thats 15 years old and it still is spot on with my Milwaukee unit.
Make sure the probe is kept in a storage solutuon.

I do not like the pen type ph meters if this is what your looking at. Most dont last long term, imo.
