I got nervous when someone said the Red Sea phosphate will get stuck on 0.8 which is what my tank reads every time. Alright tested twice. This can’t be right. Am I using the wrong checker do I need the low range one?

This one has an error range of + or - .04 ppm. So if your tank is .04 it could read .08

I’m confused about what you’re asking. The ULR isn’t significantly better. IIRC, it has a margin of error of .02, while the regular LR is .04. So, your .00 could be as high as .04. I’d repeat the test. If you’re still getting 0, there’s a good chance you’re really at 0.

Yes asking if the ULR will give me a reading when this one is not. Tested twice and got zero both times. I am nervous now phosphate should not be a zero

Hi,
Most phosphate checkers I believe have bed reapeatability.
For example, I'm using hanna phosphorous ulr hi736 which is known as having better resolution and accuracy. I measured in normal mode. After that I did with 3 new vials with same sample water for C1 and with the previous measured vial for C2 in immediate mode without 3 minutes delay . I repeated 4 more reagents with same water sample. The all results were in a range of 0~27ppb P (0~0.082 ppm po4.), and they are almost equally distributed. I also tried same way with another brand new checker, and the results were almost same. OK my both checkers might be bed. At this time the po4 report of triton icp-oes was 0.015ppm po4.
I also have a red sea po4 pro test kit, and I take photos under same illumination, and the images are compared only to judge increasing or decreasing of the phosphate level. Also I do with frequency of glass cleaning.
