Hi,
Could you weigh in on a problem I am having? Here is the link to the thread:

Hanna Phosphate checker question

The instructions say to gently shake the vial for 2 minutes after adding regent. They also say that the unit shuts down after 2 minutes. So I shake only to find out the unit has shut down and I have to start all over. What am I missing? Cheers! Mark

You shouldnt have to "beat" the 2 minutes. They knew there was an issue which is why they changed the time-out. Yet they continued to sell the faulty ones (in order to make a buck off us reefers?). That is why I think they dont want to chime in.

Oh I understand but I had to do what I had to do. I can't read other phosphate tests.

Just shake it for 1 min 50 seconds then. Ten seconds isn't going to matter and you can get the vial in the meter before it shuts off. Simple.

The point of shaking it is to dissolve the crystals. 2 minutes is just an easy number. Mine is usually dissolved after 1 min and I shake it a little more just for the heck of it.
